Thoughts about Giving

"Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."

- 2 Corinthians 9:7

As followers of Jesus, we understand that all we have comes from God. Giving cheerfully and sacrificially of our financial resources is part of our worship. Each year the congregation approves an annual budget. Unlike many churches, we do not receive annual pledges. Instead, we trust God to provide through the generosity of those who attend our church and benefit from its ministries. Each Sunday, we post an update about our annual budget and giving to date.

How much should I give? Many people at OICC follow the traditional practice of donating 10% (A tithe) or more of their income to the local church. Whatever you decide to give, we sincerely hope you’ve been blessed by the work God has called us to do.

How should I allocate my gifts? All of the ministries at OICC, including Global Outreach, are funded through the General Fund, so gifts to the General Fund support all of our programs. Kids programs like Sunday School and VBS, Teen programs and Camp Chelan, Men’s and Women’s Ministries, Music, Hospitality, Small Groups, Buildings and Grounds, Staff and office operations ~ all these are supported through the generous tithes and offerings of OICC.

Benevolence Funds serve those in our church and community with special financial needs.

Financial Accounting and Reporting Our Finance Committee, led by Treasurer Dennie Carter, assures the proper bookkeeping and accounting of our OICC funds and tax-deductible receipts are generated at year’s end for your records.

Large Gifts, Estate Planning, or Land Gifts From time to time, people wish to give a large and generous gift or want to include OICC in their will as part of their estate planning. Sometimes individuals wish to donate land to the church. If you would like to give a large gift or donate land, please contact the leader of our planned-giving initiative, Dave Ecklund. 360- 820-7749.”
